const REMOTE_PROTOCOL_VERSION: 4The read/live protocol version. A batch names the version it speaks and the
server refuses a mismatch with RemoteProtocolError, so a shape change never
drifts silently: bump it whenever ReadRequest or LiveRequirement change.
